Sowing and Planting Equipment

We manufacture precision planting equipment for row crops and transplanted crops and export it in bulk and against tender to commercial growers, cooperatives and agricultural contractors across South America.

This page covers planting rather than drilling: vacuum and mechanical precision planters for maize, soya, cotton and sunflower, potato planters, vegetable transplanters, rice transplanters for puddled fields, sugarcane planters, and the seed plates, discs, vacuum fans and row units they use. Seed drills for cereals and small seeds are quoted on the sowing equipment page.

Row crops are planted rather than drilled because spacing within the row has a direct yield effect. A planter placing seed at an even interval and even depth produces a stand that emerges together and competes evenly, while doubles and skips cost yield at both ends. Vacuum metering with the correct seed plate is what delivers that evenness, and the plate has to match the seed size and shape.

Down-pressure and depth control matter as much as metering. On the hard or residue-covered soils common in no-till systems across the region, a row unit without adequate down-pressure rides up and places seed shallow in exactly the patches that are already hardest, so emergence is worst where conditions are worst.

Fertiliser placement with the planter is usually worth specifying, since banded placement at planting outperforms broadcast application on most row crops.

Commercial growers and contractors in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia make up most demand. Planters ship with seed plate sets for the stated crops, manuals, spares and parts lists.
