Relief Aid Tarpaulins

Relief Aid Tarpaulins

We manufacture relief tarpaulins and export them by the container to aid agencies, shelter programmes, government disaster departments and relief procurement units across Africa.

The range covers woven polyethylene tarpaulins in the 4 by 5 and 4 by 6 metre sizes shelter programmes normally specify, laminated both sides, with reinforced hemmed edges, banded reinforcement, aluminium eyelets at regular centres, UV stabilised sheeting, and white, blue and the agency colours commonly requested.

The eyelet and the hem decide how long a shelter stands. Tarpaulin sheeting rarely fails in the middle; it fails where the rope pulls at a corner, and a tarpaulin with a thin hem and a plain punched hole tears out in the first strong wind, leaving a family with intact material they can no longer tie down. Banded reinforcement along the edge and properly set eyelets are the whole specification.

UV life is the other half. Untreated polyethylene in equatorial sun becomes brittle and powders within months, so a shelter rebuilt after six months is a shelter programme paid for twice. We state the UV stabiliser level rather than leaving it unstated.

Shelter programmes usually specify their own weight per square metre and eyelet spacing. Send the specification sheet and we will quote against it line by line, marking anything we would supply differently rather than substituting quietly.

Operations across Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Chad, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo make up most demand, quoted by the container with agency marking.
