Relief Aid Jerry Cans

We manufacture relief jerry cans and export them by the container to aid agencies, water programmes, refugee operations and government relief departments across Africa.

The range covers collapsible and semi-collapsible jerry cans from 10 to 20 litres, rigid jerry cans in the same sizes, food-grade polyethylene, screw caps with and without tethers, integral carry handles, wide necks for cleaning, and agency logo printing.

Collapsible cans ship flat and that is their whole advantage. A container of collapsible 20 litre cans holds several times what the same container holds in rigid ones, which on a large distribution is the difference between one shipment and four. The trade-off is service life: a collapsible can creases where it folds and eventually leaks along the crease, while a rigid can lasts for years.

That makes the choice a question about the operation rather than the product. For a rapid response where cans must arrive quickly and in volume, collapsible is right. For a settlement that will exist for years, rigid cans cost less over the period and are easier to keep clean.

Neck width is worth attention. A narrow neck cannot be cleaned by hand, and a jerry can that cannot be cleaned becomes a contamination source within weeks.

A tethered cap is a small detail that prevents a large problem, since a lost cap turns a water container into an open bucket.
