Sowing Equipment

We manufacture seed drills and grain sowing equipment and export them in bulk and against tender to grain growers, cooperatives and agricultural contractors across South America.

This page covers broadcast and drilled sowing of cereals and small seeds: seed drills with fluted and studded roller metering, zero-till and minimum-till drills that place seed into standing residue, combined seed and fertiliser drills, broadcast seeders, and the coulters, discs, tubes and metering components they use. Precision planters for row crops are a different machine and are quoted on the planting equipment page.

Metering accuracy is what this equipment is bought for. Uneven seed rate shows up as uneven emergence, and uneven emergence costs yield at harvest regardless of everything done in between. Drills are calibrated for the seed and the target rate before despatch where the crop is stated on the order.

Zero-till drills deserve separate consideration in this region. Where growers retain residue to conserve moisture and protect soil structure, a conventional drill blocks and places seed poorly, while a zero-till unit with a cutting coulter and adequate down-pressure places seed cleanly through the trash. The frame has to be heavy enough to hold the coulter in the ground, which is why light drills fail at this job.

Grain growers and contractors in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay account for most demand. Drills ship with calibration charts, manuals, spare metering components and parts lists, and are quoted FOB or CIF to the nominated port.
