Relief Aid Solar Products

We manufacture solar relief products and export them by the container to aid agencies, refugee operations, health programmes and government relief departments across Africa.

The range covers solar lanterns with and without phone charging, solar home system kits with panel, battery, lights and ports, solar street lights for camp pathways and distribution points, solar water pumping sets, solar refrigeration for health posts, and replacement batteries and panels.

Battery life is the specification that decides whether these are an asset or a disposal problem. A solar lantern with a sealed battery that fails after eighteen months becomes plastic waste in a settlement with no collection, whereas one with a replaceable cell keeps working for years with a part that costs very little. For any distribution above a few thousand units we would recommend replaceable cells and a spare battery stock.

Lighting at camp level is a protection measure, not a convenience. Lit pathways, latrines and water points reduce the risk women and girls face after dark, which is why solar street lights appear in protection budgets rather than energy ones.

Phone charging is consistently the most valued feature in displacement settings, because it is how families stay in contact and receive assistance notifications.

Panel theft is a real risk on anything installed rather than handed out, so security fixings are worth specifying up front.

Operations across Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Chad, Uganda, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo account for most demand.
