Traffic Drum
We manufacture channelizer traffic drums and export them by the container to highway contractors, road maintenance authorities and utility companies across South America.
The range covers 900mm and 1000mm polyethylene drums with two, four or six reflective bands, drop-over and bolt-down recycled rubber bases, handle and lamp-bracket options, and stackable bodies for transport and storage.
A drum does a different job from a cone and is bought for a different reason. Cones mark a short, attended closure; drums channel traffic through a works zone for weeks at a stretch, which means they have to survive repeated knocks, stay upright in wind and remain visible at night without anyone tending them. On a long contract a drum that keeps standing costs less than a cone that needs replacing.
The base is the component that fails. A moulded rubber base from recycled tyre takes impact and keeps the drum on its feet; a hollow plastic base cracks on the first hit from a kerbing wheel and the drum spends the rest of the contract lying down. The base is worth more attention than the drum body.
Reflective band quality decides night visibility, and bands degrade faster than the drum does, so a replacement band stock is worth ordering with the drums. Banding is also the cheapest part to refresh mid-contract, which keeps an ageing set of drums working.
Highway and utility contractors in Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Chile account for most demand. Drums ship stacked, with bases, bands and spares quoted alongside.
